French cuisine is closely related to the French culture.
The love for food is very common and most French man or woman can
talk about cuisine for hours. This passion gave the basis for the
French culinary art and created many French delicacies.

- The first French cookery book was written in the XIV century
and the biggest part of its content was dedicated to all kinds
of pates.
- Confectioners were initially responsible for making the pates
which is why most of them contained crispy pastry and attractive
decoration. Traditional pates were shaped as a duck or as an aristocratic
shield.
- The most popular French herb is thyme – a great accompaniment
for sweet and sour dishes.
- The most popular French seasoning is called “quatreepices”
– 4 spices: ground black pepper, ground nutmeg, ground cloves
and ground ginger. This spice is a great accompaniment for stewed
dishes.
There are more than 370 kinds of French cheeses including: fresh cheese,
soft cheese with mould skin, cheeses with blue mould and goat’s
